Ilya, thank you for your question. I perform original scores for violin (urtext), so I've never written any special transcription or never used any other transcriptions created before.

Question:
Hello, Dmitry! Could you share your opinion about Hanika guitars?
Andrew
Answer:
Hello, Andrew! With great pleasure! Test of Hanika guitars was organized together with Pavel Dudenkov (pd-trade) and Armin, owner of this manufactory. I had an opportunity to try 20 instruments of different price (from 300 to 4500 Euro) and also to get acquainted with the workshop by itself, its equipment, the building process of guitars, their varnishing etc. I can confirm that Hanika craftsmen are very high-professional. But, please, don't forget that this is manufactory and we can't compare Hanika instruments with hand-made guitars of level above average. I appreciated very much guitars Duke - for musical schools, and also instruments of average price around 2500 Euro. I was especially impressed by guitars with top cedar decks. As Armin says, each client can leave his wishes concerning mensur, fingerboard, heel etc.

Question:
Dmitry! Your music is inflated with beauty, endless love, love to a guitar, to a woman, to our life. This music penetrates into the heart. Who is your Muse?
Irina
Answer:
Dear Irina, thank you for this question and for so many warm words about me. I'll try to answer in brief though it isn't so easy to do. My attitude to Muses is very cautious. They can both inspire you or take your inspiration away. Also you can be waiting for their appearance during very long time. The process of working with music that you perform is much more interesting and reliable... Everything is kept in scores created by great composers, EVERYTHING that can inspire a musician. Although, of course, there are people beside who is very important to me and whom I owe so much that I can't even imagine myself without their day-to-day presence in my life.

Question:
I started playing guitar at a young age, and as an American, my desire at that time was rock music. In my early 20's, I decided to give solo guitar a chance, and used Frederic Noad's book. I absolutely fell in love with the classical guitar and practice in my free time (which unfortunately, is not enough). Dimitry, your playing is an absolute inspiration! You have been blessed with a rare gift. Will you ever come to the United States? Thank you so much,
Scott Kenneth Smith
Answer:
Dear Scott! Thank you so much for your appreciation! It's great that you fell in love with the classical guitar as I did many years ago. I wish you good luck in practicing and opening new possibilities of this magic instrument! Unfortunately, the US are rather far away from Moscow, but I'd like to visit your country with a series of concerts. It would be great to find an enterprising guy who could organize such a tour for me.

Question:
How did you start playing classical guitar?
Mary
Answer:
I had rather vague idea about guitar as a classical instrument till I was 10. Then I "fell in love at once" with this instrument, but I perceived possibilities and repertoire just of a classical guitar for very long time during my study with great interest and enthusiasm.

Question:
Hi: Your guitar sounds fantastic. Which guitar are you playing?
André
Answer:
Thank you for your question. I play on guitars of Russian luthiers. Records before 2010 were made on the guitar made by Timophey Tkatch, in 2010 I played on the guitar from St. Petersburg (luthier Ravil Karimov) and since 2012 I use the guitar of Pavel Gavryushov. My two last instruments were made under supervision of Timophey Tkatch.

Dmitry! I beg your pardon, do you answer these questions by yourself or does somebody help you?

Question:
Are you engaged with teaching activity?
Alexander
Answer:
I would say that I'm engaged with teaching when it does not impede my concerts, and when I have concerts, teaching activity impedes the preparation for them. Since I see no opportunities to teach in any educational institution (because of my concert schedule), I practice tutorials or I practice trainings for those who is already familiar with stage.

Question:
Dmitry, could you specify? Do you mean master classes?
Alexander
Answer:
No, I don't. It is not a work at «images» (I speak about «images» absolutely without any irony!) It is an individual work with a concrete musician. In short, it is mainly the work at the way of expressing music - technique, particular pieces (at the selection of rational fingering, development of thinking, performing skills, phrasing, articulation etc). Also the moment of preparation and appearance on stage is extremely important (of course, for those who performs on stage or plans to do it in the future).
